Ever since my eyelash extension torment I have been on the hunt for a mascara that will do justice. For those who are new to my page, welcome. Basically, I was getting eyelash extensions for a while. Everything was going fine until my eye got infected. Not once but twice. So from then on, I had to give up my love for eyelash extensions.
My natural eyelashes are short and straight. Pretty much elephant lashes as one would say. But, with the help of a curler and a really good mascara it turns out… ok. Nothing as luscious as eyelash extensions though.
So since my horrible, horrible extension experience I have been trying to compromise a good mascara for extensions. I have come close but not close enough. Here are three mascara that I’m loving at the moment.
- Lancome Hypnose mascara: This mascara is literally HOLY-GRAIL of all holy grails. Did that even make sense? It makes normal lashes look 10 times longer and 5 times fuller. It’s one of those mascaras that make your lashes look naturally long and thick. It’s so so amazing. I think this mascara is 100% worth the buy. It’s $52.00 AUD and will last a couple of months, depending on how much mascara you apply.
- Better Than Sex Too Faced mascara: Yep, everyones favourite. It’s mine too. When I compare this to the Lancome mascara, it’s so so different. The ‘better than sex’ mascara has 50 times the volume. Exaggeration much? Honestly, one layer of mascara will make your lashes look so thick. I like to personally use a mascara with a very thin brush first. Curl my lashes with an eyelash curler. Then apply the mascara. It’s a very thick mascara so I like to prime my eyelashes first. This is one of Mecca’s best selling mascaras. I totally agree and have re-purchased it a few times. I think if my lashes were longer and had a natural curl, this mascara would work perfectly for me. It’s priced at $33 AUD and can be purchased from Mecca or a Too Faced store.
- Mark mascara by Avon: When I first used this mascara it reminded me so much of the Maybelline colossal. My high school favourite actually. But it’s so much better. It’s volumizing and fast-drying. This mascara would be my least favourite out of the three mascaras because it dried out pretty fast. It can be purchased online from the Avon website. Yes, that’s right. It’s a makeup line by Avon. It really gives the brand a very modern vibe, doesn’t it. It’s valued at $19.99 AUD (excluding shipping). Shipping costs vary depending on where you’re based.
These are my top 3 mascara favourites for 2018. I’m sure I’ll pick up a few more along the year – will keep you guys posted.
